My brand new Apple MacBook Pro with the Santa Rosa chipset just arrived yesterday afternoon. I’ve had a few hours to play with it and it looks great. I really like the convenience of the iSight camera and have quickly learned how much Safari sucks! Don’t get me wrong Safari is good for some things like viewing photos (due to color) and also testing websites but really it just plain sucks. By the way you can get Safari for Windows now at Apple.com. After I get to use this computer a little more I will make a full review.

Last Tuesday Apple updated their Macbook Pro laptop computers. Of course I was in the market for a new laptop and had to buy this. Actually I have been waiting for this Santa Rosa MacBook Pro for about 1 year. It is scheduled to arrive at my house tomorrow (Monday). I’ll do a full text review and maybe a video review with the iSight camera.
The new MacBook Pros utilize the Santa Rosa chipset and come in the following configurations:
- $1999. 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo. 2GB RAM, 120GB HD, 15″ LED. GeForce 8600M GT 128MB
- $2499. 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo. 2GB RAM, 160GB HD, 15″ LED. GeForce 8600M GT 256MB
- $2799. 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo. 2GB RAM, 160GB HD, 17″. GeForce 8600M GT 256MB
The 15-inch model uses a new LED display, while the 17-inch model now offers a new optional 1920-by-1200 high-resolution display.
I just went to Google.com and noticed the logo was an add for a online gambling site. The actual file URL is (http://www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/images/logo.gif).

Threadless.com is having a summer sale and all of the t-shirts in their catalog are only $10! Threadless is a great community where designers submit shirt designs and the community picks which ones should be printed.
John Schneider, aka Bo Duke, put his 1969 “General Lee” Dodge Charger on eBay recently and the bidding just ended. This is the exact car that was used in the classic “Dukes of Hazzard” and also some other productions. The bidding just ended minutes ago and the final bid was a whopping $9,900,500.00!Several days ago many people on different websites were arguing that the car wasn’t even worth its original bid of $2.3 million. If the final bid was legitimate, they were oviously wrong and this will be the second most expensive car ever auctioned behind a rare 1931 Bugatti Type 41 Royal Sports Coupe that was sold by Christie’s Auction House in 1987 for $11 million.
Wednesday was both the worth and best day for the social news website Digg.com. After a post containing the numbers to unlock the content protection system on HD DVD discs was posted to Digg.com, the staff at Digg found it in their best interest to delete the post in order to avoid being sued. As soon as the Digg community got wind that the staff was deleting these posts, the user began to create several hundred new posts containing the numbers. Normally these “useless” posts would be buried by the crowd, but due to the accumulated frustrations the user began to digg all of these stories, eventually making the entire front page of Digg have only stories about the numbers.
Yesterday, The Royal Canadian Mint launched a new addition to the Canadian coin family with the 1 million dollar coin. The coin, of course, has a face value of $1 000 000.00 CAD and is made of pure gold. The coin tops the scales at 100 kilograms, which is three times larger than its closest “rival” which was made to the honor of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The coin is in fact worth approximately double its face value since gold is valued at $683.30 per ounce. The coin is said to be 99.999% pure.
This coin will be produced in extremely low quantity and a U.S. precious metals distributor has ordered three and there is interest in Asia and Europe, the mint said.

For the almost the past year I have been tracking the visitors of this website with Shaun Inman’s Mint Analytics program. From the end of summer 2006 to December 2006 70% of my visitors used Firefox. After just checking my Mint stats I now see that 50% use Internet Explorer and only about 38% use Firefox. What Happened? Did IE7 really turn out “some what” decent and a significant potion of the web audience switched?
I have been designing my websites with Firefox in mind. To be honest I don’t even know if this site works in IE, I always just assumed that if something tiny was broken in IE, only a tiny percentage of the audience would see it. Now it is 50%! I need to get to work.
